Plitvice Lakes, Croatia: It's Unbelievable

Due lack of internet connection and sundry other delays, such as getting a flat at 10pm in middle-of-nowhere Croatia (thank goodness it wasn't ten miles sooner...we were in Bosnia!), this blog is a day late. Better late than never, though! My hockey buddy Danny picked me up in Zagreb, and we drove directly to Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of Croatia's many lovely parks. The day was beautiful and the way was beautiful, and our three-hour hike was absolutely glorious. Some of the highlights are captured above (one of the park's many cascades) and below.

Another one of Plitvice's gorgeous blue lakes.

Fishies!  These guys were everywhere, not least because there is no fishing or swimming allowed in the park.  Completely uninhibited when it comes to humans, they were really fun to watch, and would come right up and nibble on your hand.  Think of the possibilities for dinner...sigh.

A little dark, but a good shot of Danny and I at the edge of one of the park's cliffs.  This photo was taken by a Russian couple, and was one of the ten total pictures they felt they needed to take of us (the dude even changes the settings on Danny's camera...hilarious).  I was so glad I had another morning to hike here before we moved on!
